With the incredible amount of rain received over the past two months it was inevitable that this would affect our outings. None more so than the scheduled morning’s golf at Clovelly in mid-July. No chance of golf there.
And then at King David Mowbray in mid-August, it all appeared perfect until midway through our second nine, when the heavens opened. But as quickly as it appeared, equally so it lightened up to allow us to complete the mandatory eighteen holes. See photo above….these were the ground conditions?
Winner of the VAL O Riley trophy was Nathier Fortune on 39 points, one ahead of Jos Hurn. Third on 36 points was Hugh Crichton-Stuart who edged Dave van der Walt and Graham Shilstone on a count out. Nearest the Pin on the 8th was Chris Boyes and, on the 16th, Angelo Campbell. Longest Drive on the 6th was Craig Cerff and on the 14th Enver Maneveld. Despite the conditions, an enjoyable afternoon at KDM.
Our next outing is a morning tee-off from 07:58 off both tees at Bellville Golf Club on 8 September 2024….green fees will be R375,00 as you have been advised by Angelo who has also requested that you advise your availability/non-availability to houtbaygolfclub@gmail.com and effect payment into the club’s account if you’re playing a.s.a.p. Bellville require the EFT to be processed by 4 September.
