As former Chairman, Richard Gold stated during his tenure, these newsletters are so late they then become oldsletters!
We’ve had three outings since the last newsletter. In September we played at the Bellville Golf Club which was fairly pleasant apart from the rain, wind and hollow-tyned greens! However, they have promised us a later date in 2025 to avoid the sandy greens and at the same green fee as 2024.
Winner of the Walters Cup was Dax Bailey – who seems to prefer the northern suburbs courses having previously won at Parow a few years back – on 40 points with Jan Hugo Roothman second on 35 points and Crikey third on 34 points.
Our next outing was the par 3 Hazendal course in Kuils River which proved very popular for those that played and a definite inclusion on the 2025 calendar. Winner of the Coastal Hire Constantiaberg Trophy (see below) was Thys Bosman on 38 points. Interesting indeed was the handicap we were assigned to play off!
A couple of weeks later we were off to the Kuils River Golf Club – where at last there was no rain! Winner of the Valentia Cup was Nathier Fortune on 37 points, second was Robby Adams counted in on 36 from Garth Roberts.

According to our records, the following have the respective HBGC trophies ( if you haven’t please advise ), we need them for engraving whereafter we will arrange photographs of the winners with their trophies at the Tramway event. Please return them to John Philander asap.

Good news is that the committee has agreed that the 2-shot penalty for trophy winners now applies only to individual stableford competitions throughout the year – and not for the final ( and prestigious ) event of the year, The Tramway Cup
