Name

The name of the club is Hout Bay Golf Club

Object of the Club

To promote and encourage amateur golf

Club Management

The management of the club shall be in the hands of a committee elected from Ordinary and Life members

Constitution of Committee

The committee shall consist of the Club Chairman, Club Captain, Hon Treasurer and a maximum of five other ordinary club members

Election of the Committee

The committee shall be elected annually by the members of the club at the AGM

Vacancies on the Committee

The committee shall have the power to fill any vacancies which may occur during the year

Meetings of the Committee

The committee shall hold regular meetings at which five members shall constitute a quorum and shall satisfy itself that :

1. Proper minutes of meetings are kept and shall be signed by the Chairman after confirmation.
2. A complete register of members and addresses is maintained
3. Proper financial records are kept.
   The Chairman shall have an additional or casting vote at all committee meetings.

Election of members

Ordinary members may be admitted to the club after three guest appearances at Hout Bay Golf Club outings The committee shall have the power to elect any person to Honorary membership of the club. The club at the AGM may elect life members free from subscription.

Subscriptions

The annual subscription of members shall be determined by the committee and is payable at the annual AGM or at the Tramway Cup events in November.

Handicap Index

All members belonging to another club affiliated to the SA Golf Association must declare their official handicap index which will apply in the Hout Bay Golf Club outings. Only such members are eligible to win HBGC trophies. Those members without an official SAGA handicap index are welcome to participate but will be ineligible for the official trophies on offer.

Penalties will no longer be imposed on winner’s handicaps ( from January 2026) .

In the event of a tie in scores whether medal or stableford points, the player with the lower handicap on the day shall be declared the winner.

Club Fixtures

The committee will arrange monthly outings except for the month of December.

Annual Dinner

The Annual Dinner will be held on the Friday preceding the Tramway Cup event.
Only members attending the Annual Dinner will be eligible to compete for the Tramway Cup, but all members will be free to compete for all other trophies.

General Meetings

The AGM will be held on the same evening as Tramway Dinner for the election of the committee and receiving the Chairman’s report and Hon Treasurer’s report for consideration and adoption. A quorum shall consist of 10 members.

Only official handicapped members may participate in the K.O. competition.
